“The place God calls you to is the place where your deep gladness and the world’s deep hunger meet.”
— Frederick Buechner

Participants in Just Work, a non-residential service immersion experience, commit to four hours of service to the same site each week.  Participants can choose a five or ten month commitment.

A discernment process will match you with a work site that best suits your interest, skill set and availability.   Just Work participants are also matched with a Discovery House intern.  All service experiences will emphasize directly serving clients.  Service areas could be: program, administration, development, marketing and communication.

A weekly formation session will provide you an opportunity to reflect, learn and apply your service experience.  These sessions will include spiritual, human, intellectual and pastoral formation.  Topics may include: Jesus, Discernment and Discipleship among others. During formation you will analyze the issues facing those you serve, explore Social Justice Teaching and engage in theological reflection.

Participants in Just Work will meet Jesus in those they serve.  Reflection on this experience will happen weekly during prayer at formation days.  Through discussion and contemplation participants will grow into a deeper relationship with God, understanding of self and discern how to use their gifts in service to others.
